北方昆曲剧院成立于1957年6月22日，地处中国北京，是中国专业昆曲表演艺术团体之一。
50年来，剧院以保护、继承、发展、革新昆曲艺术为根本宗旨；以古今相因、革故鼎新为艺术创作思
路；以弘扬北昆之豪放，取法南昆之绵长为艺术特色，传承，整理、改编、移植、新创了一大批在国内外
有一定影响的优秀的传统戏、新编历史戏和现代题材的剧目，培养了一批在海内外有影响的优秀专业昆曲
演员，能够承担各类昆曲剧目的创作和演出

The Northern Kunqu Opera Theatre
The Northern Kunqu Opera Theatre was founded on June 22, 1957. Based in Beijing, it is one of the professional performing art groups of Kunqu in China.
Over 50 years, motivated to preserve, inherit, develop and renovate the art of Kunqu, based on the artistic approach that the ancient art must be adapted to the modern times so as to reform the outdated while embracing the new development, featured with its bold and unchained style unique to northern Kunqu genre while also being tailored by the sensitive romantic style of the southern Kunqu genre, this theatre has taken, trimmed, adapted, transplanted or created a large amount of first-class Kunqu opera plays, newly adapted historical operas or lately created mordern ones ; all these operas have certain national or overseas appeals. Besides, this theatre sees the grow-up of an amount of outstanding professional performers with popularity within or beyond the country, who are highly qualified to create or perform Kunqu operas.
